This is called the Stolen Valor Act and it was set in place in 2006. The law is really an extension of previous laws that prohibit the wear and misrepresentation of military decoration or medals.
It’s a federal misdemeanor and if convicted one could spend 6 months in prison, unless you use the Medal of Honor, in which case you can spend a year in prison. The idea behind the law is said to be to strengthen Federal laws and punishments.
Also US Government own 63% of The Land in Idaho and 3/4 of their Forest so If anyone has a right to complain about big government it's the residents of Idaho! Most of their land is government owned. The rest of the land in Idaho is divided between public and private owners. Farmer and ranchers only own about 10% of Idaho’s land.
Nearly 40% of Idaho is covered by forests, which is more than any other state has. Over 4 million acres are wildlife and timber reserves and another 8 million acres don’t even have any roads. That is a lot of wilderness!
