The part of your brain that processes visual information is located in the rear section – opposite from your eyes. This section of the brain is called the visual cortex. The visual cortex receives its information from projections that extend all the way through the brain from the eyes. These images first pass through a round structure in the middle of the brain called the “lateral geniculate nucleus,” and then travel to the visual cortex for processing.
